CEC to Host Youth Climate Workshop

Spring Youth Climate Workshop

Saturday, March 7, 1:00–4:00 p.m.

Empowering students in grades 6–12 to build leadership skills and become confident climate changemakers. Participants will enjoy free snacks and earn community service hours. The event is co-hosted by the Community Environmental Council and the Santa Barbara High School Environmental Advocacy Club.

The Community Environmental Council is an environmental non-profit, and they lead a series of Youth Climate workshops. From their website: “Held twice per year at CEC’s Environmental Hub in downtown Santa Barbara, Youth Climate Workshops offer sixth through twelfth graders an opportunity to learn from climate experts, meet environmental leaders in our community, and connect with other youth who care about climate change. These free hands-on workshops cover a variety of topics, including:

  • Talking about the climate crisis

  • Handling eco-anxiety

  • Advocating for causes you care about

  • Speaking at city and county government hearings

  • Designing informational materials

  • Consuming sustainably

Each workshop has a unique focus and offers a chance to meet and mingle with local climate leaders, CEC’s Climate Steward alumni, and elected officials.
