Not only has she been a loyal English teacher, but Maggie Light was the yearbook teacher from 1998 to 2017. She says that the yearbook teacher position was “a scrappy stage where people were given it or took it on to either get a job or get on a probationary track.”
Light thrived with the yearbook team and enjoyed working with creative people outside the medium of English for all 19 years. She said, “I feel so grateful to have worked with them.”

This year, the yearbook staff dedicated the yearbook to Light, and she said, “It was a total surprise… [I’m] honored to serve in that capacity, and that was enough of a gift.”
Hidden in past yearbooks, baby photos of Light’s children were snuck in for almost every yearbook she worked on.
In the next chapter of her life, Light looks forward to working on her relationships with her sister and husband. “I’m looking forward to writing and reading, and crafting, and getting back in shape, and living life like I do in the summer.”
