The SBHS boys baseball team had a year of ups and downs, ultimately finishing with a record of 16-15 and 5-9 in the Channel League, where they took 6th place. That being said, the boys made a deep run in the playoffs, defeating Loara and Paramount before a loss against Kaiser ended their season. Overall, it proved to be a successful year for the squad despite adversity in the regular season, as they redeemed themselves when it really mattered in CIF. Seniors Max Weddle, Jenner Welch, and Derek Jaye will be continuing their baseball careers on the collegiate level next year at Chaminade University, Claremont McKenna College, and Whitman College, respectively. Head Coach Steve Shuck said of the signing, “I’m just proud that they get to live out their dream, they’ve been wanting to play in college since they were little, and now they get to follow that dream.”
As far as girls’ softball is concerned, there were unfortunately not enough players signed up this season to form a team after ten seniors graduated last year.
