The annual “Big Show” took place on May 5 at the District Office on Foothill Road. The Big Show is a competition where all six junior high and high school students gather together to compete and show off their woodshop skills and projects.
This year SBHS had three outstanding winners. Leo Brownstein, a senior who won the Best In Show for his Flying V Mahogany Guitar as well as being awarded the Top Don award for Woodshop.
“I’m extremely honored for both of my awards. There are a couple other students who were also top contenders that gave their all and I’m proud of myself for the work I’ve done in the past four years.” Said Brownstein.
Another senior Clara Watson was awarded the Audience Choice award for her teardrop camping trailer. Watson declined to be interviewed by The Forge.
“It was definitely a difficult decision when picking a Top Don. This year it was between Leo Brownstein, Clara Watson, and Will Endberg because the three of them are absolute pillars in woodshop. Leo just spent that extra bit of time here and he showed his commitment by becoming Woodshop Club president.” said Jimmy Witherell, teacher of woodshop and construction tech.
