About Us

This is The Forge, Santa Barbara High School’s student-run newspaper since 1914, the second-oldest continuously running student newspaper in California. The Forge serves as the culmination of a journalism program that educates students on how to work in a professional newsroom. Students write, photograph, and report on campus or community stories. The students cover news, sports, arts and entertainment, features, and student life.

The Forge stands for democracy, student voices, and truthful publication. We hope to craft a paper that benefits the Santa Barbara community and serves as a place where students, staff, and citizens can meet for discussion and consume ethical and humanistic reporting May it serve its purpose to create an even greater feeling of good fellowship and collective responsibility amongst the people of Santa Barbara High School.

The Forge strictly follows the standards of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics to do minimum harm in all reporting and operates under the freedoms given under the First Amendment.
