The Dons wrestling team had a great year, with Coach Hamman saying, “I think our team is motivated by one another. We have a

really good culture in the room where athletes can discuss matches and make adjustments.” Captain Samuel Ramirez-Navas spoke of his accomplishments over the years, saying, “I made it to CIF, and I pinned the number four seed, and then in the league I placed third, so I think it was a pretty good season.” In addition to Ramirez-Navas, Yahir Dorado and Lucas Blessing got 2nd place in CIF this year.
There are nearly two dozen wrestlers on the team, so being captain was a big responsibility for Ramirez-Navas. “[being Captain] changed my perspective because it showed me how to be compassionate, and how to be patient, because sometimes… You forget what it’s like to be a beginner…. It just motivated me to do more, so that way I could be an example for the younger guys on the team,” Ramires-Navas said. “Our team is also starting to see results, which come from them showing up and putting the work in,” Hamman explained. Go Dons!
